Becoming a key part of the mining tech stack
Connec is working with some of the world’s largest mining companies to help an entire industry unlock electrification and big data.
The company believes its solution can disrupt the $4.4+ billion market for underground coupler systems – the devices connecting industrial cables and machinery – which has hardly seen any innovation for 40 years.
Connec’s technology is cheaper, lighter, safer but importantly it can also unlock big data and artificial intelligence for mining companies. This enables operators to replace people at the coalface with cameras or sensors, improve productivity and safety and access future technologies like autonomous mining.
As the $1 trillion mining industry transitions to electrified and online infrastructure, Connec is becoming a must-have part of the tech stack required for this shift – which now puts them at an inflection point in their initial $4.4+ billion target market.
Connec moved from R&D to commercialisation in 2023, and has grown its pipeline to $250 million in the past 12 months. The company has signed with the likes of Glencore, AngloAmerican and Stanmore and is in advanced talks with several majors including Fortescue, RIO and BHP.
