The sector that is growing despite (or because of) Trump

Since Trump has taken over, we have seen tariffs, trade wars and a massive spike in market volatility. Trump’s U.S. protectionism and general approach is likely to cause ongoing volatility and concern for investors, however, for some sectors it’s already creating opportunities.

One sector that has been growing below the radar of many investors – mainly due to what the Trump administration has been implementing – is U.S. natural resources including copper.

Trump’s strong focus on critical minerals has ignited a level of engagement not seen since the Poseidon Nickel Boom of the late 1960s.

With constant media coverage and policy discussions surrounding critical metals, copper has become a key topic, fueling price surges and renewed interest in exploration and production in North America.

Reach Markets has opened a Wholesale Investors only Pre-IPO capital raise for US copper developer Copper Bay. This is likely the only opportunity to get allocated ahead of a planned ASX listing – at a significant discount to the intended valuation. Trump is changing the copper game

Mr Trump has continued to threaten 25% tariffs on natural resource imports. Why? A key driver behind this could be to push domestic production – or to punish international imports.

A growing concern over national security and the urgency to reduce the reliance on Chinese-controlled supply chains may have also contributed to this initiative. With reports emerging indicating that the administration aims to establish metal refining facilities on Pentagon military bases, and plans to name a critical minerals czar, this provides a brighter landscape for U.S. sourced copper.

US copper assets are now in high demand

This has only fuelled demand for the resource, which may lead to considering it as a critical mineral, and has seen the demand for US-domestic copper spike, leaving US copper prices trading at multi-year highs.

The US has been scrambling to secure supply and top up copper reserves with the view that the ongoing supply shortage, as well as the international supply chain dominance, is a key contributor to U.S. shortages.

Where Will the U.S. Find Its Copper?

With a global shortage looming and the push for localised copper production, the search for new domestic copper sources is intensifying. One contender is Copper Bay Resources – a project with the potential to become a top-10 copper producer in the U.S.

Copper Bay’s Pyramid Project is a rare, at-surface porphyry copper-gold deposit with an existing compliant resource and significant upside potential. Strategically located with favorable logistics, the project has established agreements with traditional owners through to production. Feasibility work is already underway for a starter operation targeting 50ktpa, which would place Pyramid among the top 10 copper producers in the U.S.

Why Copper Bay?

Copper Bay is backed by MDF Global, which holds a 64% stake in the company and has assembled a top-tier management team. This team includes geologists credited with A$100 billion worth of discoveries and resource dealmakers with decades of experience in identifying, acquiring, and commercializing high-value projects.

The company’s strategy focuses on fast-tracking development by leveraging existing infrastructure and ensuring economic viability – one of the primary hurdles that prevents many copper projects from reaching production.

Pre-IPO Capital Raising

Copper Bay is preparing for an ASX listing within the next 12 months and is currently raising capital to accelerate value creation ahead of its IPO. Investor interest has already been strong, with multiple potential buyers conducting due diligence site visits this year.

With copper prices soaring, government policies shifting, and a well-positioned domestic project in play, the investment window is open – but not for long.

Copper Bay presents a rare opportunity to gain early exposure to what could become a cornerstone of the U.S. copper industry.
