Woyla resource delineation program intercepts mineralisation

Far East Gold’s (ASX: FEG) understanding of their flagship Woyla project continues to deepen.  After launching another diamond drill program in late January in the 24,260 hectare area, which is highly prospective to contain a high-grade gold and silver epithermal deposit – the company has pulled out a drill core that indicates a continuation of mineralisation

The Phase 2 drilling program at Rek Rinti has struck a 30m intersection of massive quartz and quartz breccia that is remarkably similar to their previous discovery hole (RRD004), which yielded 30m @ 3.43g/t AuEq from 98m, including 8.1m @ 8.9g/t AuEq from 102.4m and 2m @ 27g/t AuEq from 108m. This is along strike from RRD004 and confirms the lateral extension of the Agam Zone quartz vein and breccia.

Initial handheld pXRF readings of the drill core indicate gold and silver bearing minerals are present as part of finely disseminated black sulphides present within the ginguro bands. High-grade ore zones in low-sulfidation epithermal deposits are commonly associated with the occurrence of banded quartz veins.

The company has already confirmed the interpreted nature of the deposit. It is clear that high grade mineralisation occurs in quartz textures, and the styles of mineralisation are consistent with both what was observed from surface sampling and what has been identified at other high grade low sulphidation quartz vein systems.

This news comes just a week after the company revealed they had discovered two new quartz veins within the Woyla project area, and two weeks after they returned excellent recoveries of 91% for gold and 86% for silver. The diagnostic leach tests indicated that gold and silver can be recovered using conventional cyanide leaching.

Woyla is located on the highly prospective Sumatran Fault, which hosts numerous other multi million ounce deposits of the same structure. Its structure is remarkably similar to Gosowong, the world renowned behemoth of a 7Moz gold resource, that has already produced over 6Moz. It is in proximity to multiple other large resources, including Miwah (3.14Moz Au, 8.9Moz Ag), Beutong (2.31Moz Au, 0.52Blbs Cu) and Martabe (6.49Moz Au, 66.2Moz Ag)

This marks the first of 11 planned 50m infill drill sections planned for FEG’s Phase 2 resource delineation program in the Agam Zone. Far East Gold is very encouraged by the continuity of the massive quartz zone along strike and the presence of Au-Ag mineralization contained within it.
