Far East Gold more than doubles gold vein system length

Australian explorer Far East Gold has identified a further 2,600 metres of vein systems – including some bonanza-grade gold and copper deposits – in Indonesia.

Australian explorer Far East Gold has identified a further 2,600 metres of vein systems – including some bonanza-grade gold and copper deposits – in Indonesia.

Work undertaken at the company’s Woyla project site identified additional veins stretching from the Anak Perak vein system, which remains open to the north.

The discovery of the additional veins brings Anak Perak’s total vein strike length to 4,700 metres, and the total cumulative known mapped and sampled project vein length across all four epithermal prospects at the Woyla project to 13,000 metres.

A number of bonanza-grade gold sites – areas that deliver more than 34 grams of gold per tonne (g/T) of mined rock – were also uncovered within the additional veins.

One sample taken from an artisanal mining operation along the Anak Perak system delivered an assay result of 68g/T gold, with similarly high grades of other metals.

These included high grades of 533 g/T silver, as well as zinc (4.84%), lead (3.64%) and copper (0.8%). These percentages refer to the total volume of the target mineral within the ore, which is the preferred metric for industrial metal exploration.

A separate sulphide-rich region of Anak Perak yielded lead grades of 38%, alongside further copper (1.8%), zinc (1.7%), silver (96 g/T) and gold (0.86 g/T) results.

Far East Gold noted these discoveries suggest the Anak Perak vein system may extend further and could even connect to other vein systems within the Woyla site.

The company will be holding an investor briefing tomorrow, Thursday 14th April, at 1pm (AEDT). Register here.
