Geophysics survey completed, soil assay results are in: FEG

Geophysical consultants for Far East Gold have completed a 21-line-kilometre MIMDAS survey to identify potential deep-drill targets at the junior explorer’s Mount Clark West tenement.

The deep ground penetrating geophysics survey – a three-week endeavour at the central Queensland copper-gold site – was carried out to test the distinct magnetic anomaly situated adjacent to the previous Induced Polarisation survey and earlier drilling activities completed.

The MIM Distributed Acquisition System survey, an advanced electrical geophysical technique that collects multiple datasets, comprised eight lines over 21 line kilometres at 400m spacing.

“These data readings, which encompass depths of more than 700m, will provide us with a better understanding of the size and nature of the magnetic anomaly,” Far East Gold chairman Paul Walker told Reach Markets.

“Importantly, the results will assist the company in defining specific drill targets at the Mount Clark West project site.”

Processing of the survey data is currently being undertaken by Southern Geoscience Consultants, with the results – including a 3D Inversion Model – expected within four weeks.

Far East Gold (ASX: FEG) also recently received assay results for 214 soil samples collected from the same location as the survey, in the southern part of the tenement, which covers an area of 1912ha.

The soil samples were taken to further define geochemical zonation within the targeted mineral system and to aid in the interpretation of the processed MIMDAS survey results when received.

The assay results define distinct anomalous zones consistent with elemental zonation typical of mineralised porphyry systems, supporting the company’s interpretation that the tenement contains a substantial buried copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry deposit.
